Gum Disease Control

Gum diseases occur due to the accumulation of plaque on the surface of the teeth. Plaque is layer of bacteria that causes considerable damage to the teeth and the surrounding gums. If you allow plaque to accumulate, it will become hard and turn into calculus (tartar).

Plaque build up will swell up the gums and they will become red and inflamed. The bone holding the teeth will also begin to erode. If the condition is left untreated, you will eventually lose your teeth.

Signs and symptoms of a gum disease

  • Bleeding from the gums when you brush your teeth or eat something hard
  • Bad breath and/or foul taste in the mouth
  • Gum recession – as the gums recede, the teeth will appear to be longer. They will also become more sensitive to heat and cold
  • As the disease progresses, gaps will appear between your teeth. The loose teeth will eventually fall off
