Dentist near Karrinyup

A short drive from Karrinyup.

North Beach Road forms Karrinyup’s northern edge and leads west into central North Beach, where our surgery is. For most Karrinyup households, that makes the dentist a short, local drive.

Getting to us from Karrinyup

From homes in the north of Karrinyup, get onto North Beach Road and head west. A short stretch of Reid Highway brings you to the Marmion Avenue lights, and North Beach Road continues straight across into central North Beach to the surgery.

From Karrinyup Shopping Centre or the streets south of it, drive along Karrinyup Road towards the coast until you reach Marmion Avenue, turn right and follow Marmion Avenue north to North Beach Road, then turn left and follow it into central North Beach.

Without a car, catch route 423 from Karrinyup bus station, at the shopping centre. It runs through Trigg and on into North Beach, with stops in the suburb before it continues up the coast. Transperth’s timetable for route 423 shows when it runs.

Errands at the centre, then the dentist

Karrinyup Shopping Centre was expanded in 2021, and a library, community centre and bus station sit alongside the shops. If you already shop or borrow books there, our surgery is a short drive north.

That makes it easy to pair a check‑up or a review appointment with a trip you were already making. If you’re booking for the whole family, ask for appointments close together so you only make the trip once.

Primary school years and sealants

Local families are served by Karrinyup and Newborough primary schools, with Deanmore Primary nearby, and St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School has been in the suburb since 1961. The primary years are when the first permanent molars erupt behind the baby teeth, typically at six or so, with a second set following at about twelve.

The chewing surfaces of these new molars have deep grooves that trap food and are hard to clean. Fissure sealants are a thin protective coating that can help reduce the risk of decay in those grooves. We’ll check whether they suit your child as each set of molars comes through.

Treatment that spans several visits

Some treatment is easier to commit to when the surgery is close by. Root canal treatment usually takes two to three appointments, and a dental implant generally involves an assessment, placement, a healing period of some months and then the final crown.

When each visit is only a short trip along North Beach Road, it’s simpler to keep appointments on schedule and to call in if a temporary restoration feels loose or uncomfortable between stages.

Between the lake and the coast

About a third of Karrinyup is reserve, bushland or golf course, including the Lake Karrinyup Country Club and the public Hamersley course. If you’re new to the area and finding your bearings, our surgery is north of the shopping centre and west of Marmion Avenue, towards the coast.

If anyone in your household plays a contact sport on the local ovals, a custom mouthguard is worth having made before the season starts.

If a tooth flares up

A throbbing tooth that keeps you awake, swelling in the gum or face, or a bad taste with a tender lump near a tooth can be signs of infection. Because the drive from Karrinyup is short, it’s usually practical to come in at the first available time rather than waiting it out.

Ring us early in the day and describe what’s happening so we can judge how urgently you need to be seen. Some problems can’t wait: for swelling that affects your breathing, swallowing or eye, bleeding you can’t control, a high fever or a head injury, call 000 or go straight to your nearest hospital emergency department. For advice when we’re closed, call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222, and if a tooth is knocked out, follow our knocked‑out tooth page.

How to book

You can book online whenever it suits, and the phone line, 08 9447 1514, is answered while the surgery is open. Let us know if you’re new to us and which of your family members need a visit, and we’ll suggest the most practical way to schedule them.

Services Karrinyup patients may find useful

Common questions about visiting from Karrinyup

Is your surgery inside Karrinyup Shopping Centre?

No. We’re in central North Beach, north of the shopping centre. From the centre, drive west along Karrinyup Road, turn right onto Marmion Avenue, then left onto North Beach Road.

Which bus goes from Karrinyup bus station to North Beach?

Route 423 runs from Karrinyup bus station through Trigg and on into North Beach, with stops in the suburb. Ask us which stop is closest when you book, and check Transperth for departure times.

My child is in Year 1. Is it time for sealants?

It may be. Whichever Karrinyup school they attend, the first permanent molars generally erupt when a child is about six, and sealants are most useful soon after they’ve fully come through. We’ll look at your child’s teeth and explain whether sealants would help.

Can I book appointments for my whole family on the same day?

We’ll try to arrange visits close together so you only make one trip. It helps to tell us when you book how many people need to be seen and what each visit is for.
