Basketball, footy and protecting teeth
Warwick Stadium is home court for the Warwick Senators, and the Warwick Greenwood Knights field junior football teams. In basketball, an accidental elbow or a fall under the ring can damage a front tooth just as easily as a tackle on the footy field.
A custom-made mouthguard is moulded to your teeth, so it tends to stay put during fast changes of direction on court.
Energy drinks and teenage teeth
Warwick Senior High School has served the area since 1981, and the teenage years are when energy drinks and sports drinks can creep into a daily routine. Both are acidic as well as sugary, and frequent sipping can wear enamel over time.
If your teenager uses them, drinking with a meal rather than across the day, following with plain water and waiting a while before brushing can all help. Sugar-free versions avoid the sugar but are usually still acidic, so the same habits apply. We’ll point out any early signs of wear at check‑ups.

Child dental benefits and DVA cards
Living on the Joondalup side of the boundary doesn’t change your access to federal dental programs. Eligible children can use the Child Dental Benefits Schedule with us, and we accept both Gold and White veterans’ cards from DVA.
The CDBS is for children up to 17 whose families receive certain government payments, and it provides a capped benefit for basic dental services over two calendar years. A DVA Gold Card generally covers clinically necessary dental care, while a White Card covers treatment linked to accepted conditions. When you book, tell us which applies so we can check eligibility and explain what’s covered before any treatment begins.
Combining the dentist with a coast trip
From Warwick, Reid Highway and then North Beach Road take you all the way to the coast. If your family often heads to the coast on a weekend, you could book the first Saturday slot and spend the rest of the morning on the sand.
It works the other way round too. If a filling chips or a tooth starts to ache during a weekend outing to the coast, we’re close by, so ring us before you drive back inland and we’ll tell you whether it’s worth calling in.
Starting again after a long break
If it’s been years since your last visit, it’s common to feel embarrassed or uneasy about coming back. Your first appointment with us can simply be a conversation about what’s worrying you, with no treatment unless you want it.
From there we can agree a signal that means stop, talk you through what each part of treatment involves before it happens, and plan things in a sensible order, starting with anything that hurts. Music through your own headphones can help, and a quieter first-thing appointment is often easier if you’re anxious. Our page for nervous patients has more ideas.

Common questions about visiting from Warwick
Which way is most direct from Warwick Grove?
Take Erindale Road south through Hamersley to Reid Highway, turn right and stay on it until Marmion Avenue. Go straight through those lights and you’ll be on North Beach Road heading into central North Beach.
Does a bus run from Warwick station to North Beach?
Yes. Route 423 calls at Warwick station, heads out via Hillarys Boat Harbour and follows the coast south, stopping in North Beach. It’s a roundabout route, so Transperth’s trip planner is the most reliable guide to timing.
Do kids who play basketball really need a mouthguard?
Whether a guard is required depends on the competition at Warwick Stadium or elsewhere, but dental injuries do happen from elbows, stray balls and falls. A well-fitting custom guard is usually comfortable to wear for a whole game, and it can reduce the risk of damage to the front teeth.
We live in the City of Joondalup. Can we still use the CDBS or our DVA card with you?
Yes. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule and DVA dental arrangements are federal programs, so they don’t depend on which council area you live in or which one the surgery is in.
I haven’t been to a dentist since moving here years ago. Where do I start?
Book a normal check‑up and tell us it’s been a while. We’ll examine your teeth and gums, take x‑rays if needed and talk through what we find, then prioritise anything urgent before planning the rest at a pace that suits you.
